If the length of your newly bought prom dress has become a problem for you, then you have come to the right place. Trust me, there is more than just one way in which you can get prom dress alterations done --

For starters, most dresses are made to fit girls that have a height of 5'9" or taller. Whether your dream dress is too long for you or is not long enough, there are a number of options that can help you fix this dreadful issue. The first option, in case the dress is too long for you, is to hem it up.

Nevertheless, don't lose hope even if you are taller than 5'9". You can either get your prom dress stitched in a way that it becomes a mid-length garment or alternatively, you can always get a border stitched at the hem of the dress. But if you do not wish to wear it at mid-length you can always go for frills or a sequined border. Adding a border around the hem would make your prom dress even more beautiful and unique as well. Additionally, you can also add lace to your dress to make it fit your length.

Another situation where alterations might be necessary is if your prom dress is too transparent -- you don't want to play 'peek-a-boo' on the night of your prom! As an alternative to formal alterations, you may decide instead to simply wear undergarments -- especially the brassiere --  that are of the same color as your prom dress.

When getting your prom dress altered, always make sure to wear the same height of shoes as you wish to wear on the prom night. Not only would this ensure a better fit for your dress but would also enable you to purchase the dress that would look best on you at a particular height level. This way, you will also know the exact height of the dress and will be able to get it altered correctly.

However, if you have already bought your prom dress and feel that it needs alterations, then the best option is to take it to a competent tailor nearby. Only an experienced tailor who knows how to make the appropriate alterations would know how to treat your dress in the best possible way.

A skilled tailor would be able to make the most complicated alterations as well. However, it is recommended that you take photographs of your dress before you leave it with a tailor, lest something happens to it. In case your prom dress only requires a few basic hemming alterations, then almost any tailor would be able to do it for you -- if they are straightforward enough, perhaps even mom could handle it.

Whether you go for Tiffany's, Jovani, Faviana, Flip Prom, Sherri Hill, Terani or Alisha Hill, you will always need prom dress alterations. All you have to do is to put in a little effort, some thought and care. Voila, you have a prom dress that is unmatchable!
